If you’re living the van life, you know how important it is to have versatile and efficient appliances in your tiny home on wheels. One appliance that can make a big difference in your van life experience is a multi cooker. With a multi cooker, you can cook a variety of meals with just one appliance, saving space and time.

Please note these appliances are pretty big juice suckers. If you are without a generator or a really great solar system these are not the best solutions for off grid living.

But with so many options on the market, how do you choose? In this article, we’ll explore some of the top multi cookers for van life and what makes them stand out. Whether you’re a full-time van dweller or a weekend warrior, there’s a multi cooker out there that can help you cook up delicious meals on the road.

It’s no secret that I have been full-time since 2009. Over the years I have had a bunch of different kitchen appliances. I had an air fryer, a dehydrator, a crock pot, and a pressure cooker.
When ninja came out with their first Foodi I couldn’t wait to buy it! I have the Foodi in my big rig and the Speedi in my van. No, they didn’t pay me to write this and No I didn’t get a discount on any of them, they were purchased before I even had a blog!

Benefits of Using a Multi Cooker in Van life

When it comes to van life, space is at a premium. That’s why a multi cooker is an essential piece of equipment for anyone living on the road. Here are just a few of the benefits of using a multi cooker in van life:

  • Space-saving: A multi cooker can replace several appliances, such as a stove, oven, and slow cooker, saving valuable space in your van.
  • Energy-efficient: Multi cookers use less energy than traditional ovens or stovetops, making them ideal for off-grid living.
  • Versatile: With a multi cooker, you can cook a variety of dishes, from soups and stews to roasts and cakes.
  • Easy to clean: Most multi cookers have non-stick surfaces and removable parts that are dishwasher safe, making cleaning up a breeze. Not that many of us van lifers have dishwashers, but I do in my Class A RV
  • Time-saving: A multi cooker can cook meals quickly and efficiently, freeing up time for other activities.

Overall, a multi cooker is an excellent investment for anyone living in a van. It’s a versatile, energy-efficient, and space-saving appliance that can make life on the road more comfortable and enjoyable.

Factors to Consider When Choosing the Best Multi Cooker for Van life

When it comes to choosing the best multi cooker for van life, there are several factors to consider. Here are some of the key things to keep in mind:

Size and Weight

The size and weight of the multi cooker are important considerations, especially if space in your van is limited. Look for a compact and lightweight model that won’t take up too much room in your storage area.

Power Source

Consider the power source for your multi cooker. Some models require a 120V electrical outlet, while others can be powered by a 12V cigarette lighter adapter or propane. Choose a model that is compatible with your van’s power source and meets your cooking needs.

Think about the capacity of the multi cooker. If you’re cooking for one or two people, a smaller model may be sufficient. However, if you’re cooking for a family or group, you’ll need a larger model with a higher capacity.

Consider the functions of the multi cooker. Look for a model that can perform multiple cooking tasks, such as pressure cooking, slow cooking, sautéing, and steaming. This will allow you to prepare a variety of meals with just one appliance.

Finally, consider the price of the multi cooker. While you don’t want to skimp on quality, you also don’t want to overspend. Look for a model that fits within your budget and offers the features and functions you need.
